Best-Fit Computing - COLUMBUS Network Adjustment Software

Precision & Reliability

No least squares network design or adjustment is complete without precision and reliability estimates. How reliable your adjusted positions are to their true values can be estimated through rigorous statistical analyses, then summarized for you.

COLUMBUS provides six complete measures for estimating the precision and reliability of your survey: Height confidence levels, 1D distance errors, 2D error ellipses, 2D error circles, 3D error ellipsoids and ALTA positional uncertainties. Each can be dialed in to the confidence level required (0.001% to 99.999%).

Height confidence levels give an indication as to the quality of the relative heights between the adjusted stations.

Distance errors give an indication as to the quality of the relative distances between the adjusted stations.

Error ellipses indicate the quality of the adjusted 2D coordinates (north and east plus a height estimate), as well as the relative quality of adjusted 2D coordinates between adjusted stations. These can be viewed both graphically and numerically.

Error circles (similar to error ellipses) indicate the quality of the adjusted 2D coordinates (north and east), as well as the relative quality of adjusted 2D coordinates between adjusted stations.

Error ellipsoids indicate the quality of each adjusted station in 3D (north, east and up), as well as the relative quality of adjusted 3D coordinates between adjusted stations.

ALTA Positional Uncertainties Meets ALTA requirements plus adds customizable tolerance variables (PPM + absolute).
